Safety First

Briarvista Pediatrics takes the safety of our patients and staff very seriously. We are adapting our office procedures as-needed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Please read the details below before your next visit.

We are also one of the first private practices in the Atlanta area to offer in-office rapid antigen testing for SARS-COV2.

Starting in October, we will ALSO be offering COVID/RSV/Flu PCR testing (results within 24 hours).

Scheduling Changes

In order to keep our patients safest and lower the risk of any exposures, we have made the following changes to our schedule until further notice. We apologize for any inconveniences.

  • Check-ups are now only scheduled early in the day. The last appointment is at 2:30pm.
  • Sick patients are only seen after 3pm. Please call when you arrive as you may be instructed to remain in your car until a room is free.
  • If we need to bring a sick patient into the office, we will not use that exam room again until after our air purifier has completely exchanged the air inside the room.
  • Well-Check Wednesday evening clinic has been canceled until further notice.
  • Weekend visits are limited to telemedicine
  • We are limiting each visit to one adult per child; other adults will be asked to wait in their car. The only exception is for newborn visits, when both parents will be allowed.
  • Please do not bring siblings to an appointment unless there is absolutely no alternative.
  • New patients must complete registration forms and developmental screenings before being offered an appointment time.
  • Telemedicine visits will be offered throughout the day whenever possible, or at the end of the day if there are no other open appointment slots.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Sanitation Guidelines


All adults and children older than 4 years must wear a mask when inside our building at all times. Our (fully vaccinated) staff will also be in masks at all times.

  • Children 2-4 years old should be encouraged to wear a mask.
  • Please do not remove your mask in the exam room.
  • If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you. There may be an additional fee for masks.
  • If you are wearing a mask with an exhalation valve, you will be asked to change to another style or cover the valve with another mask.

Other Considerations

  • Please use hand sanitizer or a sanitizing hand wipe when you enter the office
  • Exam rooms, equipment, door knobs and light switches are sanitized between patients
  • Our waiting room is closed. You will be immediately escorted to an exam room.
  • Our sign-in sheet, coloring pages, toys, and stickers have all been put away. Please bring your own toys if necessary. Feel free to ask for a sticker or prize at the end of the visit though!
  • You may notice our air purifiers being used in the office, especially when sick patients must be seen indoors. Please don’t touch them!


  • You may notice additional billing codes listed on your statement, such as CPT 99070 or 99072
  • These codes are approved by insurance plans to help cover OUR cost at keeping YOU safe, including PPE, cleaning supplies, air purifiers, and the extra time for screening.
  • If the charge has been passed on to patient responsibility, our usual financial policy applies.

COVID-19 Testing

We are proud to be one of the first private practices in the Atlanta area to offer in-office rapid antigen testing for SARS-COV2 via Quidel’s Sofia2 system. Testing is available for current patients only, on a case-by-case basis. If you are transferring care, records must be received before an appointment can be scheduled.

If the test is not covered by your insurance, or you are uninsured, the cash price is $100 when paid at the time of service or by credit card on file.

Because this is an antigen test and NOT a PCR, please keep in mind:

  • The best result is on day 2 or 3 of symptoms.
  • If asymptomatic, the best result is 7 or more days post exposure.
  • This test cannot determine if someone has been exposed in the past and/or is immune.
  • This test is not ideal to “rule out” infection in an asymptomatic patient prior to travel, camp, school, etc.
  • A PCR test may still be sent out to a laboratory, depending on the situation.

Vaccines and Flu Shots

  • All vaccine-only visits (including flu shots) will be by appointment only, no walk-ins.
  • Vaccine visits will be completed outside, either in the car or in a tent beside the building, whenever possible. Masks are required but you will not have to enter the office.
  • Please call when you have arrived.
  • Parents may schedule flu shots for themselves as well, and we will be happy to bill your insurance this year as long as there is an active credit card on file for your family.
